New Release & Interactive Campaign: “Blurry Face” Play-Alongs, Sheet Music, and Remix Opportunities
As part of a new initiative celebrating the launch of our label’s website — www.musicfactoryrecords.com — we’re excited to offer something special for musicians and producers alike.
Music Factory Records proudly announces the release of “Blurry Face”, a captivating new trio track from Ari Joshua, featuring John Medeski (organ and clavinet) and Billy Martin (drums) of the legendary improvisational group Medeski Martin & Wood.
Tracked live in a single take at Applehead Studios, the performance captures lightning in a bottle—raw, unfiltered, and recorded with no second chances.
Guitarist Ari Joshua arrived with a fresh batch of material, ready to explore new textures alongside two of the most influential voices in modern jazz and groove music. The track is built on a loop conceived by Billy Martin, originally released in his Loops from the Underground collection. The resulting groove is thick and hypnotic, anchored by Martin’s signature blend of earthy pulse and polyrhythmic finesse.
Medeski’s clavinet bounces with joyful grit while his organ swells and shimmers with psychedelic warmth and soul. Joshua’s guitar tone is unapologetically phat—equal parts fuzz and finesse—pushing and pulling against the rhythm section with both reverence and individuality. The solos unfold organically, showcasing each artist’s unique voice and the deep musical understanding that comes from decades of fearless exploration.
“You never know when your dreams may come true. You plant a seed and it just may bring a great tree. If you do it right, the tree may bring sweet fruits—and more seeds for more trees.”

“Blurry Face” is the latest in a growing catalog of collaborations between Joshua, Medeski, Martin, and bassist Jason Fraticelli, with over a dozen compositions and improvisations already released through Music Factory Records. While plans are underway to release a full-length album in physical form, no official date has been set. A follow-up single, “Reversible Submersible”—a more produced studio cut featuring experimental edits and outboard gear embellishments—is scheduled to drop on May 23rd, 2025.
“’Blurry Face’ was born in the moment—no overdubs, just raw takes between legends John Medeski and Billy Martin. Built from a loop Billy created years ago, this session brought out a spontaneous conversation in sound. It’s about tapping into that sacred zone where intuition leads and genres melt away. For those who love MMW, like do! – this one will feel familiar. Just a trio, with John on bass and organ, no bass guitar here. I had been talking to Medeski since I was about 19 years old about working together, I am grateful we made this happen – dream come true.”
