ARTIST REVIEW: THE ARI JOSHUA QUARTET

Review

"Help On The Way" starts off much more subtly than the instant psychedelic-ism I've come to expect from Ari Joshua.... At this early stage of the single, it seems that this super-group of artists is just setting up for an epic symphonic odyssey by using more progressive synthesizers, reminding me of 2001: "A Space Odyssey". The trip I was expecting starts almost immediately, with interspersed and colorful riffs that weave in and out of each other effortlessly. The base between the constant bass and the drums is excellent as a support for the more excellent string work that is willing to play day in and day out at any time. The synthetic refinements form a bridge around the 3-minute mark, and they're always welcome too, as the roles are reversed and the strings are left to support the surreal madness of this side-quest electronica. Help is on the way, so don't fly away or drown in this psychedelic sea where hypnotic patterns reign and miraculous eyes constantly watch you.
