Music Factory Records Presents "Cherry Peach" – A Funky New Joint Featuring Ari Joshua, John Medeski, Billy Martin, and Jason Fraticelli
Music Factory Records is thrilled to announce the November 8th release of "Cherry Peach," an irresistible retro-funk journey led by composer and guitarist Ari Joshua. Joining him on this track are jazz-funk legends John Medeski on keyboards, Billy Martin on drums, and Jason Fraticelli on bass. This collaboration, recorded at the storied Applehead Recording Studio in Woodstock, NY, infuses rich, classic funk with contemporary flair.
A Retro Groove with Modern Polish
"Cherry Peach" opens with Medeski’s soulful organ lines, laying a foundation of swampy funk that resonates from the first note. The track builds as Joshua's Hendrix-inspired fuzz guitar solo, harmonized with a cascading melody, propels listeners into a free-flowing blend of rhythm and melody. Supported by Martin’s tight, inventive drumming and Fraticelli’s resonant bass, the track feels fresh yet timeless. Jeff Fielder, guitarist for Painted Shield, the Indigo Girls, and Duff McKagan, enhanced this polished version in-studio, adding new dimensions to the track's bouncy, playful spirit. Note that the original unedited quartet version of "Cherry Peach" will be released at a later date, and that this version is part of a series of songs mixed and re-imagined by Jeff and Ari.
The engineering team includes Chris Bittner at Applehead Recording, mixing by Jeff Fielder at Oliver Blue Studio in Mount Baker, WA, and mastering by Ed Brooks at Resonant Mastering, adding to the track’s textured and dynamic soundscape. Complementary visuals were crafted by Monte Mitchell from Forest Shore Designs, perfectly capturing the track’s vibe in the promotional video.
About The Composer
South African-born and U.S. raised, Ari Joshua has built a dynamic career in music. A graduate of The New School in NYC, he has collaborated with an array of notable artists, including members of The Trey Anastasio Band, Robert Glasper, Delvon Lamarr, and Skerik. His label, Music Factory Records has been steadily releasing a vault of new and old recordings that reflect a rich tapestry of jazz, funk, and improvisational styles. He is also the founder of The Music Factory, a music school devoted to fostering a love for music among students of all ages. "Cherry Peach" is one of the 32 anticipated 2024 releases from Music Factory Records, showcasing his prolific output and collaborative spirit. Ari's music has gained over 1 million organic listeners across platforms in the last 12 months, since the Fall of 2023.
